EV Service & Maintenance

Keep Up with Your EV Service Needs at Towne Hyundai

While gas-powered vehicles have been the choice of many drivers in the past, there's a new option on the road you may prefer - EVs. Electric vehicles, or EVs, forgo the traditional gas-powered engine for an electrified powertrain that helps you avoid gas station visits and rising fuel costs. However, EVs hold another benefit - less spending on necessary maintenance costs that can add up for your gas-powered vehicle. With required replacements and services about every 5,000 miles for oil changes, engine filter replacements, and more, gas-powered vehicles rack up charges, especially if you want to keep your vehicle operating at its peak performance level.

Our service team can happily walk you through the advantages of servicing electric, comparing the costs of EV maintenance with those required for gas-powered engines. EVs still require a trained technician to assess their service needs and take care of any replacements or repairs required. The Towne Hyundai team can take care of you! We can show you how to service your EV and how much you can save on your next service appointment when you own an electric vehicle!

How Does EV Maintenance Work?

EVs won't avoid the service center entirely - anything that operates on the road will need routine maintenance, even bicycles you pedal yourself! Moving parts wear down over time, requiring someone with knowledge of the system to assess the condition and replace or repair as necessary. EV maintenance usually costs about one-third of what you pay to service your gas-powered vehicle. On top of maintenance costs, you'll also need to spend money on rising gas prices - not exactly the right way to save money! You won't need to break the bank to service your EV. Our maintenance experts can show you what you need for routine maintenance and repairs, ensuring you keep your vehicle's warranty intact and ready to protect your investment.

When determining where your service needs are, one important consideration is the tires. Both gas-powered and electric models need tires in good working condition to ensure a smooth operating experience. Properly inflated tires improve mileage and help you get the furthest range out of your fully charged battery. From tire rotations to wheel alignments, air filter replacements, and windshield washer fluid top-offs, we have you covered at Towne Hyundai.

How Can You Stick to an EV Maintenance Schedule with Towne Hyundai?

Gas-powered vehicles may require a more detailed service schedule to cater to their numerous moving parts, but EVs still need regular service visits to ensure smooth performance. EVs won't require as much attention from our service experts, avoiding the 30,000/60,000/90,000 model many gas-powered vehicles require. Electrified models don't cost as much to keep on the road, delivering a world-class experience every day you start up and hit the town!

At 30 days, you should:

  • Check your car's tire pressure and refill the air as needed.
  • Examine the tires for wear or damage.
  • Check windshield wiper fluid level and refill if necessary.

When you hit the 7,500-mile marker, you'll need to consider a few more maintenance items for your EV. These services may include:

  • Getting a tire rotation.
  • Inspect the battery's coolant level.
  • Check accessory power, charger modules, power inverter, and cabin heater. We can help you find these pieces if you aren't sure where they're located.
  • Check light bulbs and replace them if they're dim or unresponsive.
  • Inspect the gas struts for suspension wear and lubricate door locks.
  • Inspect your vehicle's steering, chassis, brakes, and suspension system for wear.
  • Check the EV's power steering and drive shafts.

When you hit the 15,000-mile marker, you should get new windshield wipers. After 36,000 miles, you'll want to replace the cabin air filter. When 75,000 miles rolls around, we'll recommend service for your suspension gas struts and draining/servicing your coolant circuits.

Of course, your electric vehicle will need a hardy battery to keep things moving. All Hyundai vehicles feature a 10-year/100,000-mile warranty. We can service the battery at our service center and ensure you enjoy a long lifespan with your EV!
